Pastry Plus closing

Here's a story direct from business 1st:
https://www.bizjournals.com/louisville/news/2021/01/12/pastry-plus-shutters-in-highview.html?ana=e_lou_bn_editorschoice_editorschoice&j=90545824&t=Breaking%20News&mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiWVdZMVpHWTVObU0zTXpKbSIsInQiOiJFaGNGcmlTcWVPSEk2UGNcLzRPbGIzNlpDRUlyWjFCT0ZPQ1RIbTBRMFRHMEQ2YTRJbUlpT2NiN0xubnFcLzZmaW9ndXNERVFuSWg1ZE55a2VHOVprTW9xNllXMFZiNTdGU3RRTzYrT0d4bFwvRW0rSkhFbm03Q3FaSE1QOWswSmdnRnFPUGVjYVNXZ3hkS21yU1ZWZVdcLzhRPT0ifQ%3D%3D

After more than three decades in business, a Louisville doughnut shop has closed.

Pastry Plus, located at 7407 Fegenbush Lane within Highview Plaza, has closed. Owner Rachel Buster told me she and her son had bought the longstanding shop in November 2019, unaware of the challenges that would follow in 2020.

"The first year was incredibly rough and I think it just beat us all down a little bit," she said in an interview on Tuesday. "But we've had some wonderful customers. They're so supportive and many have reached out and said, 'Thank you,' or, 'I'm sorry to hear this.' Everyone is just so very kind, and we've got a few that are just begging for us to make them a cake."

Buster said Pastry Plus was founded in the late 1980s by a man who ran the business for 20-some years. Pastry Plus has since changed hands four or five times in recent years, with loyal customers pleading to keep the shop open.

Its always tough to see a longstanding business give way. However, I've been by there a few times to pick up some donuts for my boys--not very impressed.

That area is undergoing growth in housing/apartments which may change the demographics. There are at least 3 sites that I am aware of: (1) Right beside the ValuMarket plaza.(2) Just a bit behind Pastry Plus plaza, and (3) about a mile down Beulah Church heading towards Fern Creek HS.
