Mike Linnigs

by TimT » Sat Oct 17, 2020 8:50 am

We made a quick trip to Louisville, literally in and back out to attend a funeral. After the service we dined outdoors at Mike Linnigs. It was strange hosting as the family patriarch for the first time, but we really enjoyed the support of our family, especially after months of social distancing.

The food was as good as ever and dining by the levee brought back memories when a train stopped to have dinner and the grand nieces and nephews made the short walk to the river. I had their famous fish sandwich and onion rings. You can't get fried cod in Arkansas - it's catfish only here! Dinner recharged our batteries for the trip home. Can't wait until we get a handle on corona virus and we can return for a longer and more engaging stay.

Thanks Robin, and all the HotBytes forum contributors for helping me stay connected to my hometown.

Tim, I'm glad you enjoyed your quick trip home and a meal at Linnig's! And yes, be assured that everyone who passes through these doors has a permanent reserved seat at the kitchen table. :)

It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Mike Linnings but I’m thrilled to hear that after all these years in business they are still keeping up standards.
Maybe by this spring.... :D

We just had a combined birthday lunch for both my sisters at Mike Linnings the first Wednesday of this month. It was as tasty as ever and we all had more than we could eat. We were lucky enough to snag one of the small 2 table gazebos and social distancing was not a problem at all all the servers had masks. Love it.

We ate there earlier (when it was still warm outside!) and were pleasantly surprised as everyone was masked, and the outdoor tables were spread out all the way to the big berm at the railroad tracks, resulting in good distances between each table! They were doing it all right, even - instead of refilling your soda - giving you a new soda in a new cup!

We have been there a couple of times recently and found the same thing. Very good food, service and venue.

Heartfelt condolences on your family loss. Stepping into those big shoes is a daunting task at first. Take care and stay healthy.
