Great commentary from Mayan Cafe's newsletter

by TP Lowe » Wed Oct 07, 2020 10:18 am

Our Neighborhood:

We would like to be candid about the climate of our neighborhood and what has been potentially perceived around it. In these last several weeks of peaceful protests in and around downtown, Mayan Cafe has not closed our doors once. We have been focused on listening, learning, processing and further reaching out to our neighbors in this city.

It can be difficult to grasp what’s really happening with so many media outlets, including social media. But, we would like to reiterate that with many of our staff working and living in this very area, we have been safe everyday coming to work and serving our guests. We are appreciative of all our loyal customers in this community that have been dining with us and getting carry out these past months. We are happy to keep making delicious meals and nourishing your bellies and hearts with as much love as we can! Thank you for coming in to dine with us and for making us feel supported as well. We hope to see you and serve you very soon!

This post motivated us to get carryout tonight. Jicama salad, vegetarian burrito and three sides - greens with pumpkin seeds, fried plantains and (of course) those killer lima beans.

Everything was perfect, and it was piping hot after the 10-15 minute drive from Market Street to our Crescent Hill back porch.

Great food served by great folks.
