Hot Pocket shortage

by Richard S. » Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:38 am

When he does come out of his room, my son's main diet consists of Mountain Dew and pepperoni pizza Hot Pockets. I've noticed that the stores have been out of Hot Pockets.

The pandemic seems to be responsible for random shortages. I expect you have to be a PhD economist to understand what's going on.

Also, Diet Pepsi Cherry is for all practical purposes gone, and Diet Dr. Pepper can be found but only in one of the 3-4 flavor varieties out there!

Ramine noodles were totally gone from the shelves for weeks. I later learned there had been an outbreak of Covid at one of the factories. And caffeine free Coke (regular not sugar free) has disappeared totally even from Amazon.

"If there are no hot pockets, let them eat cake," saith the queen, Madame Antoinette. "Sacre bleu," cries out loud Jim Gaffigan.

Canned soda has also been scarce lately. The virus has really highlighted the fragility of our supply chains and "just in time" inventory systems.

It's a single data point, but I was at the St. Matthews Target yesterday, and they had no Diet Coke or Coke Zero. I think they had caffeine free regular Coke but not diet. I was able to get some Diet Pepsi and Diet Mountain Dew.

I didn't check on the Hot Pocket situation, but it looked like they had plenty of frozen pizza.
