Primo's New Revive @ 5

I have to say, I went to Primo's last night to enjoy their new happy hour and the $5 drink and appetizer menu was spectacular. The portions were wonderful, and the flavors delightful. Among the apps were Ravioli Fritti, A seafood ceviche with chili seasoned popcorn and a wonderful little meats platter with figs and truffle honey. They also offered Dumante cocktails as well as a red and white wine.

If you haven't checked out Primo in a while, now's a good time to return.

This is a great idea. Thousands of workers leaving downtown to return home, and what better place to stop on the way home for a glass of wine and something to munch on than Primo. Butchertown Pub used to make a killing catering to this market.

I hope you stop by sometime. I have to admit, I wasn't a big fan as of a year ago, but the new chef, the new menu (and pricing) and especially the happy hour have won me back.

I have always been a huge fan of Primo. Wood oven pizza and an all-Italian wine list with fairly obscure producers is all it took to win me over. We had our rehearsal dinner there, and people still rave about how good it was.

I'm so glad to hear it! I really hope they start getting the business they deserve.

This looks like a Jo and Ron thread, so I thought I'd add to it. I haven't had the opportunity to experience a full meal at Primo, but I often visit for their pizza. To me, it's the best in town. Baked in a wood burning oven, it comes out with that great charred crust. It's authentic Italian pizza at its best. My particular fave is the Venezia. It is comprised of that awesome crust, then topped with garlic butter, fresh spinach, parmesan and smoked shrimp.

Think about this for a minute. A smoky charred pizza crust with smoked shrimp. Until you taste it, you won't know how the combination of the two work so very well together. Put that all together with a glass or 2 of fine Italian wine and you are in epicurean bliss.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

Doogy, I second everything you said about the pizza at Primo, especially the Venezia. I keep saying I am going to try one of the others, but the thought of passing up the smoked shrimp and spinach is just too much! My pepperoni loving teenage daughter thinks very highly of the Nicola and my husband loves the Puglia for the goat cheese, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes and olives. We go there often. I know of nowhere else in town that has that thin crust. Favoloso!
When in doubt, add more wine.
