Before I post, let me make clear that I am not making an argument for or against, just an observation of my experience so folks can get a snapshot of what to expect based on this particular case.
The wife and I took our daily coronavirus-era walk along the Greenway in New Albany earlier this evening (I recommend anywhere between J-Ville and New Albany!). We drove around looking for a place to eat afterwards and decided that La Catrina looked fairly inviting.
There were tables outside and the garage doors fully opened which made for good circulation. Spacing was easy to maintain and even though we sat inside, the open doors made it feel less confining.
Workers with facemasks--check
Customers with face masks--nah
Good spacing and easy to stay distant even going in and out and to the restroom--check
Hand sanitizer--at least two tables with this
Tables cleaned by a person with a spray--check
Menus--clean yourself after use if you want
Overall comfortable experience--check
Would I return--food was mediocre/good as I'm not a big taco entree fan. But safety-wise, no real complaint viewing their attentiveness as likely being the norm for this type of experience.
My tip to others--bring a bottle of hand sanitizer so you can spray on the spot as needed.
We drove around once more after it got dark to get a feel for the scene. It seemed that quite a few places were chugging along with a decent amount of people. There were a few places that were either closed or just doing some deliver/takeout stuff. But all in all, if I had just drove through town clueless of what has happened in the past few months, I probably wouldn't notice anything unusual.
