Turkey Joes

by Neal M » Sat Feb 02, 2008 8:20 pm

Tried Turkey Joes last night which was their 1st night open. The menu ranges from wings and sandwiches to ribeye. I had some wings ala buffalo and some with spicy asian sauce. Nice, big, meaty wings and both sauces were very good. The seasoned fries just didn't seem to cut it and were lukewarm. One thing I really like is that they will separate the wings any way you want them, i.e 3 buffalo, 3 asian for an order of 6. The owner told me they would even make an order of 6 with 6 different sauces if that's what someone wanted. I got used to that at my favorite wing place in TX and haven't found anyone else here that will do that (I admittedly have not tried them all).

I was suprised to find them quite busy on the 1st night, I hope that bodes well for them. The owner is very attentive and made the rounds several times. And one really cool thing, they deliver!!! I think their number will end up on speed dial

Thanks to everyone who tried us this weekend. We have fixed the luke warm fries problem by lowering our heat lamp and frying the fries as needed.

My friends and I had a chance to sample the wings last Friday, and we were pleased enough that we ordered 60+ for our Super Bowl party. I had the chance to try the garlic parmesan, spicy peanut, hot, spicy BBQ, and sweet chili. The sweet chili was my favorite, but they were all very good.

Like Neal stated, the wings were very big and meaty. My only suggestion is that the hot sauce isn't quite hot enough for me. It'd be great to have a sauce one notch above the hot that could challenge my tolerance for heat. :)

They needed an editor for that menu. Deserts, not desserts?

I went to turkey joes the first time the other night. we enjoyed the food. we ordered the joe's burger, which was fresh and seemed like something right off a backyard bbq, onion rings, and wings with four different sauces - hot, mild, peanut and honey bbq. they were all really good but the honey bbq was the best. I wanted to try the calamari fries but DH cringes at squid and I would have had to eat the entire platter myself, making it my whole dinner.

total bill was under $20. talk about an inexpensive dinner!

it seems to be pretty popular, even on weeknights, such as when we were there. we ran into two different people we knew while we were there and they don't even live in the immediate area.

Took the family for lunch this afternoon. Overall, it was a nice experience. I had the chicken wings and tried the hot, medium, and garlic parmesan. They were big, juicy, and cooked perfectly, but I can't say that I loved any of sauces I tried. The hot was probably my favorite, but as mentioned, isn't all that hot. My wife had the Honey BBQ bacon burger and was pleased with it. The best part, however, was the kid's meal. Both kids ordered the grilled cheese, which was served on two perfectly toasted, thick slices of Texas toast. It also came with a side of mac and cheese that was delicious and appeared to be homemade. The meal was so good, my four year old proclaimed it to be the best kid's meal ever! And that was even before she knew about the vanilla bean ice cream with chocolate syrup that followed shortly after. Truth be told, I think my wife was a little jealous that she couldn't order the kid's grilled cheese. Their only disappointment was that they didn't offer any drinks I would consider "kid friendly". If they had lemonade or fruit punch it would have sealed the deal for them.

Overall, it was pretty good and I'm sure the kid's meal will bring us back again. They do have an number of dishes that look appealing so I look forward to trying some others in the future.
