Unfortunately, she's doing it by abandoning the neighborhood that helped her start her business! Yet another business that thinks NuLu is Nirvana!

I thought she had a location before the current one...in other words, the current location is not the neighborhood that helped start her business.

But I might not be remembering correctly.

I wonder how much the redevelopment of that area that really never happened played into the move. A few years back there was a lot of talk of redoing that whole corner with new apartments and condos. Unfortunately, the big changes never occurred.

I've never seen this much news coverage for a restaurant moving locations. To whom is she related?

I believe that she actually started out of her house. Her first commercial location was at 7th and Oak, then she moved to her current location on Oak. She's been in two locations in Old Louisville.

They currently have two locations with the other one being on Fern Valley Rd.

My guess is that they got a good deal in NuLu since they'll be a street back on Jefferson and S. Hancock across from the Home2 Suites. With their product and name recognition they should have no problem drawing people to that corner. In addition, apart from the soon to be completed building where they will reside, two other buildings are in the process of being renovated on the corner of S. Hancock and Market. Thats a total of three significant rehabs that will bring more traffic to that end of NuLu.

Visited the Old Louisville location a few times for a po-boy. Food was good but too pricey for me to make it a regular stop.

Kentucky, specifically Louisville, has a long and storied tradition of getting fresh seafood from the Gulf and Atlantic via the railroads. That's why Louisville is the only place in the country that I know of that has such a hunger for fried cod sandwiches enough to support multiple restaurants that do only that.

Right you are, Ron, and that it turn can be traced to a wave of Catholic immigrants during the 19th century. Mazzoni's used to have its own freezer car to rush oysters up from the Gulf even in the 1870s. Using block ice, of course, not electricity.

Having a UPS hub located in town has to play a role in carrying on that tradition.
