Bussman's Alternatives?

by Susie W » Tue Sep 17, 2019 9:45 am

Bussman's, in my opinion, has the best donuts in Louisville! Sadly, with their upcoming closure, I am unsure of anything that resembles their same style of donut. Can anyone chime in with another donut that has the same light fluffy texture, light glaze, etc.? Thicker donuts just don't do it!

I like Clifton Donut, too, and King Donut out in Lyndon is also run by a Cambodian family and probably somehow related.

Plehn's might be more akin to Bussman's in style, though. I'm just guessing at this since I haven't had a Bussman's donut in recent memory, but they're both old-school Louisville bakeries. Like Nord's, too, now that I mention it.

Thanks all - I have had Nords and Plehns before, although it has been some years. I'll have to check out the others and hopefully find something in the same family.

Side note: I see there is a donut spot called Sugar and Spice in Fern Creek. It looks promising!

Sugar and Spice is the real deal! Small place, but most take them to go. Wide selection, but they sell out everyday...think they may close at noon. Best prices in town.

You definitely should put King Donut on your list of places to try.
