Galt House Rivue closing (WLKY-32)

by Robin Garr » Tue Jun 11, 2019 4:41 pm

WLKY-32 wrote:The revolving restaurant that famously sits atop Louisville's Galt House Hotel will soon be closed for several months.

The hotel announced Tuesday that RIVUE, which looks over the riverfront on the 25th floor, will close its doors in July.

Rivue opened in 2006, replacing a restaurant called Flagship. It serves brunch, dinner and hosts special occasions with an undoubtedly stellar view of the city.

To bid it farewell, the hotel said the restaurant will bring back some nostalgia -- adding to the menu some "Flagship and Rivue classics."

The final weekend of service will be July 12-14.

As to what will go there next, all the hotel said was AJS Hotels, which owns the Galt House has "big plans" for the space, which will be announced later this year.

Whatever the new concept will be, it is expected to open next spring.

That's too bad . . . the rotation was hokey but the views were great, the design was classy, and the food was perfectly acceptable (if not excellent) for the space!

It was pricy, but our experiences were memorable and we didn't mind paying, or feel that we were being taken (as has happened with other "top shelf" restaurants around)!

We did a Sunday brunch there about 3 years ago. It was a bit pricey, but well worth it.
