I think I understand. It's a pop-up at Artesano showing off their next concept! I'm not clear, though, whether the regular Artesano will be closed during the Steak & Bourbon event, or if it's just in one room, or an alternative menu.

I mentioned to my wife the other day that I was wondering what happened to this concept. It's been a couple of years since we 1st heard about it. Menu looks interesting although not far out of the norm for a steakhouse. I'm glad to see they have the hand pies for an appetizer, I loved them when they 1st had them when they opened Red Barn.

Robin, good questions. I also wondered if they're ultimately planning to replace Artesano with the steakhouse, or if they'll open a new location? I love Artesano and would hate to see it go!

You mentioned a separate room - I went for their Croatian wine dinner held at Artesano and we were indeed in a good-sized separate room (I'm guessing it seated 30-ish). The Croatian meal was fantastic, btw!

Business First's story says the steakhouse will be in a separate location:

Ole plans to open a permanent location for the restaurant in the East End in late May, but the company is not yet disclosing the address.

The link in the original post that only have the menu but it hasn't menu with prices and they go higher than what the Business 1st article mentions, not significantly...

Word on the street is that this pop up thing was a ruse. The steak concept will replace Artesano in that location.

That may be the next dumbest thing to buying Joe's Older than Dirt.

Interesting that there is a rumor that it's going to replace Artesano. Artesano is a fairly unique concept for Louisville and seems to be doing quite well. On the other hand, Louisville has a plethora of steak places and the menu for this 1 while looking good really doesn't have anything that was different than a lot of the other ones. We are going to the pop-up to see what it's like but I don't anticipate it being any better (probably not as good as) Artesano.

Answer have been sent its probably the 2nd worst thing they've done after buying Joe's Older Than Dirt. In many ways is much the same thing, you're opening a new restaurant that is basically a concept that already has multiple sites in Louisville.

A “pop up” steak place at Derby time? This is clearly a way of getting bigger ticket totals and making more money. At Derby time, people will pay $500 for dinner. I don’t see that being the case all year at an Ole joint.

When they redid Artesano recently, so many of our favorite dishes were taken off the menu that we don’t have too many reasons to go back. Of course, that means we just go to Havana Rumba more.

Correct. The restored JOTD, not Ole's Red Barn.

Thought I would just add some more confirmation to the rumor that this restaurant is going to replace Artesano is true. I was on OpenTable little while ago looking for a reservations and Steak & Bourbon is listed there starting next Monday and continuing forward. It's listed at the same address that Artesano is presently at and Artesano has no listings after this Saturday.
