Uber Eats payouts

by Alanna H » Sat Jul 07, 2018 4:48 pm

I mentioned in the carryout tipping discussion that I drive for Uber Eats. If you're interested in seeing how Uber pays its drivers for this service, I have posted my deliveries from last night. p/u = pick up d/o = drop off Boost = specific times of day/specific areas in town are considered busier and pay anywhere from 1.4x to 3x the normal Uber fee. FYI, I have no idea what Uber charges the customer. These are just my payouts.

8:49 p/u Eat-a-Pita, 40205
Deliver to 40207
5.54 miles
Distance $3.79
P/U fee $2.55'
D/O fee $1.02
Boost 1.8x $5.89
Total $13.25

9:16 p/u Comfy Cow, 40206
Deliver to Locust Grove (the coolness of this delivery eased the pain of melted ice cream all over my brand new car's seats a little bit)
5.35 miles
Distance $3.66
P/U fee $2.55
D/O fee $1.02
Total $7.22

10:23 p/u Derby City Pizza Co, 40217 (stacked deliveries- 2 orders from same restaurant going to different locations)
First delivery to hotel by airport
Second delivery to hotel on Jefferson St
6.96 miles
Distance $4.76
P/U fee $2.56
D/O fee $2.04
Boost 1.7x $7.48
Total $16.84

11:02 p/u The Eagle, 40204
Deliver to Mockingbird Valley (literally the biggest mansion I've ever seen in real life) (guess who didn't tip)
4.66 miles
Distance $3.19
P/U fee $2.55
D/O fee $1.02
Boost 1.8x $5.41
Total $12.17

11:51 p/u Hooters, 40207
Deliver to 40220
3.32 miles
Distance $2.27
P/U fee $2.55
D/O fee $1.02
Boost 1.6x $3.51
Total $9.35

12:19 p/u Wing Zone, 40213
Stacked deliveries
First to U of L campus, 40208
Second to Galt House
8.6 miles
Distance $5.88
P/U fee $2.56
D/O fee $2.04
Toll $8 (GPS misdirected me and I ended up over the river, lol. Didn't realize Uber paid tolls until I saw this)
Total $26.86

Total for the night was $89.20 and it was a very slow night. I didn't have any runs from 6:30 until 8:49. I wasted a lot of gas driving around the food strips- Highlands, Hurstbourne, Preston Hwy, Shelbyville Rd for hours with no deliveries to offset the cost. Interesting to note that NOT ONE DELIVERY last night tipped. I have never delivered pizzas or anything, so I'm not sure what restaurant delivery drivers normally make. And I'm not complaining about the pay. No one is forcing me to drive. I just think it's interesting that I delivered to a house easily worth $3,000,000 (yes, I looked it up online when I got home) and also had two people who noted that they were going to tip through the app, yet no one bothered with a tip.

Thanks for sharing, interest to see how the fees and up for different combinations. I have 2 questions however, what is a D/O fee and how are the Boost factors determined?

The d/o is a drop off fee. Uber charges for both picking up and dropping off the food.

I’d be interested in knowing what formula Uber uses to determine their busy (Boost) times. Because last night all the areas I drove through were in Boost Zones from 4pm on, meaning high demand/drivers needed, but I didn’t get a request until late evening. So must not have been too busy or underserved!

Thanks for the information. Looks like doing food deliveries for Uber is a lot more lucrative than delivering pizza etc.
