Thinnest crust pizza or thinnest pizza crust?

by Ed Vermillion » Thu Jun 14, 2018 8:03 am

Whichever way you slice it, what local spot has the thinnest pizza crust in town? The thinnest I've found, so far, is Coals. Looking for other contenders. Thanks!

Ed, Caffe Classico has a very good thin-crust pizza. I've never measured it, but I'd absolutely place it in the top rank of Louisville pizzae, and I'm a thin-crust kind of guy.

Old School NY Pizza out on Factory Lane has another foldable NYC style pie.

And, come to think of it, how about MozzaPi?

Derby City has a thin crust ( not thinest). It is also cut into squares. It reminds me of my native St Louis ever present thin crust, square cut pizzas minus the provel cheese--good stuff in my opinion.

I really enjoy Danny Mac's thin crust pizza.

Mozzapi have a very thin one which is baked in their woodfired oven. Different type they also have a great focaccia bread they use for sandwiches.

That place has been around forever, but somehow I've never been in there. I just thought it was a coffee place. I had no idea they serve pizza, and now that I know it's thin crust, I will definitely go in there to try it. :D

Yeah, it's an interesting story ... they got the recipe from a Bosnian guy, which sounds nutty until you get that the former Yugoslavia lies right across the Adriatic from Italy, and they pick up a lot of stuff from each other. One of the best pizzas I ever enjoyed was in a basement pizzeria in Ljubljana, Slovenia. I am not making this up.

I'm a thin crust girl myself, and I will shamelessly step out and endorse Blaze pizza. Thin crust without a big pesky bready crust and it's built exactly as you like it (double sauce, extra cheese, green olives, kalamata olives, salami)...it's more than a contender...it's my default at this point. Plus they have a rewards app. http://blazepizza.com/

Thanks, Mary Anne- I wasn't brave enough to post Blaze myself (I also love MOD)! I'm the first to admit that I'm not a pizza fan since I don't like cheese or tomato sauce, but since Blaze and Mod both offer an olive oil & chopped garlic base option, I get pizzas from them at least once a week (usually more). I love their thin crust!!!!

I tried Blaze, and had them mix the marina sauce with the white sauce (I think it was Alfredo). Mushrooms, sausage, and pepperoni, and then a pesto drizzle at the end. It was delicious.
