Two former employees buy J. Harrod's

by Robin Garr » Tue Jul 11, 2017 3:25 pm

Long-time employees Charissa Humston and Jenny Neaveill recently purchased J. Harrod’s Restaurant from previous owner Mike Francis. Located at 7507 River Road in Prospect. J. Harrod’s
serves a variety of American food.

J. Harrod’s offers a wide range of appetizers and salad options, with many of the dressings made in house. Entrees include a variety of seafood such as basa, salmon, cod, and oysters; steaks and pork chops from the grill; and classics such as the customer-favorite boneless fried chicken, prime rib, chicken livers, delicious sandwiches and burgers, and J. Harrod’s take on the Kentucky Hot Brown, which was rated by one local reviewer as such: if a “single dish were to be rated on a one- to four-star scale, J. Harrod's Hot Brown would merit a six.”

J. Harrod’s has a Happy Hour special from 4:00 to 5:30 PM, Tuesday - Friday. Customers can enjoy $1.00 off drinks and $5.00 appetizers (onion rings, crab cakes, chicken tenders, potato skins, and fried green tomatoes). The restaurant also has weekly features, such as Comfort Food Sunday and Italian Wednesday.

The restaurant serves both walk-in patrons and accepts reservations. Customers may dine at a table in the main dining area or in the bar area. They may also dine at the bar itself. During warmer months, customers are welcome to sit outside on the deck. Carry out is also offered.

For private parties, there are three rooms separate from the main dining area that can accommodate intimate gatherings and large groups up to fifty. Large group parties can have a set menu or a buffet with the option of a cash bar. J. Harrod’s also offers catering services for weddings, businesses, residential parties, and other events. In the future, Charissa and Jenny hope to expand on the catering and delivery with new services, such as box lunches and delivery to nearby businesses.

Ice creams such as peppermint and chocolate chip are made in house. Homemade pie is made fresh daily. J. Harrod’s also serves homemade carrot cake, pound cake, and Kentucky Pie, as well as ice creams made in-house and bourbon bread pudding.

J. Harrod’s Restaurant located at 7507 River Road in Prospect serves dinner Tuesday to Sunday starting at 4 PM. For reservations or more information, please call 502-228-4555.
