Food Editor Pableaux Johnson lands at CJ

by Robin Garr » Wed Jan 16, 2008 10:38 pm

The CJ's new food editor is an impressive guy. I had a chance to get together with him for lunch, and really enjoyed him. He's way too nice to work for Gannett, it's going to be really tough to be his blood enemy. ;) But at least I can still despise the company he works for.

Here's his first column, publised in the CJ this morning:

After reading that really down to earth article, I can see how he couldn't be your blood enemy, even though he is employed by the evil empire. I look forward to his reviews.

By the way Robin, where did y'all dine? Can we get a mini review, maybe from each of you, to post here?
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

I wish this man all the luck in the WORLD in a downsized Print environment...

I did enjoy his first effort in introducing himself to the city...

I can only hope that he can think and write out of the box....

WELCOME....THIS TOWN HAS ALOT TO OFFER!!!!!! (Even to someone with a funky spelling of a common name!)

I feel it's a touch pretentious but; Hey, I don't know anything!
I just cook food for a living....

I read about him over the weekend and wondered when it would get discussed here. He sounds impressive.

I have a question, as a non-media / writer person.

I noticed that Marty disappeared from this forum as soon as he went to the CJ. Is that by design? Is he not allowed to do thinks like this while working for "them"?

Did you invite the new guy? Any chance he could / would be able to join us?

Thanks Robin.

I'm very excited to see CJ's new addition. I tend to be partial to folk transplanted here from Louisiana, being one myself. I'm especially looking forward to his recipes and articles on cooking.

The honest answer is that I don't know. But given what I know about political currents inside the building, and the fact that Marty abruptly stopped showing up here, and that Sarah only posted here once or twice, makes me suspect that there's a quiet gag policy in place. Probably not anything written or formal, just a sense that the editors wouldn't be happy.

That's a GREAT idea! I didn't specifically invite him, but I'll drop him an Email inviting him. Can't absolutely guarantee he'll take it up. He's a busy man AND he might be concerned about the Gannetoids. But it can't hurt to ask. Thanks for the suggestion, Chris.
