Patrick O'Shea's

by Andrew Mellman » Sat Feb 18, 2017 11:02 am

We went to Little Mermaid last night, and had forgotten to make dinner reservations till late. Ended up at Patrick O'Shea's, definitely not our first choice, but we figured their sandwiches were decent and it's a nice place (2nd and Main).

They are really trying to upgrade the food!

I had the corned beef & cabbage . . . a layer of cabbage and fennel topped with several thick slices of corned beef . . . vertical presentation was extremely attractive, a lot of food, and very good. Three had the chicken with champaign sauce, an airline breast perfectly roasted with good sides. The final person had the fish and chips, always a standby there, but again the presentation was awesome with two huge pieces of seafood! The next table had the special - 14 oz strip steak, at $32 the most expensive item (ours were in the high teens) - and it looked great.

Not all is perfect - the food was overly salty, as might be expected in a bar setting - but it seemed like a significant upgrade in food and service (attentive, friendly, knowledgeable). This will be on our rotation a lot higher than it used to be!
