Ngon Appetit is now open, carrying on for Four Sisters

by Robin Garr » Thu Jan 26, 2017 6:29 pm

BULLETIN! See the end of this thread for new information! Can't wait to try Ngon Appetit!

This is sad, posted on Facebook and Instagram. I liked Four Sisters, although I can't say I did my share of supporting them. I hope they really mean it about reopening.

For some Time now, we have held the desire to expand our Menu. We are currently working to quickly transition into a new Location which will allow for this expansion. We would like our Customers who have enjoyed our cooking to know we are not gone, simply pursuing changes we feel necessary. We will keep you updated and will most definitely see you soon.

I hope so too. I don't have the opportunity to get there as often as I once did but their bahn mi is excellent.

Great neighborhood spot, but the menu of banh mi and crepes always seemed oddly narrow. I think a menu expansion is a great idea. can't wait to see what they come up with, but I hope the new location is still in the hood.

I wonder if there's any chance they'd move next door into Basa. The tofu banh mi is in my top 5 favorite sandwiches in the city.

The Basa location is already spoken for:

Geoffrey Heyde, longtime executive chef at Village Anchor and most recently executive chef at SET, will open his first restaurant venture in March in the former home of Basa Modern Vietnamese in Clifton.

Heyde said the menu will be classic American, but he isn’t yet providing specifics.

Ehh,... what were people recently posting about the local restaurant scene hitting a point of saturation? I think the latest developments are showing more of a reboot if nothing else.

Think their crepes were the best since I lived in Luxembourg and took the train regularly to France.

Ngon Appetit is now open, carrying on for Four Sisters

by Heather L » Tue Jun 27, 2017 2:30 pm

Good news for fans of Four Sisters! Just saw this on Facebook:

Update!!! It's official folks! The lease is signed today at 1991 Brownsboro Rd, and Four Sisters will become Ngon Appetit! "Ngon" means delicious in Vietnamese, and the name reflects our style of cooking, French- Vietnamese. Get ready for some authentic Pho Bac (Northern style Vietnamese Pho) in addition to the returns of our beloved crepes and banh mis!

I googled the address and the tradition of our fair city of Louisville, it's where Sam's Hotdog Stand was in the strip on Brownboro Rd that includes Great Wall, Subway, a nail salon and more! Have to say, it won't be the same in terms of atmosphere, but glad they are opening up in the neighborhood!

Eve, I just looked, but there's been no new post since the one copied above. "Just leased" probably means "not next week," but assuming this is that restaurant space next to the Payday Loans shop, it's presumably set up for restaurant use already. That spot has been death to a long string of eateries, and it seems like a particularly grim stretch of LowBrow, but I hope they make it, and I'll certainly go there.

Here's a link to their Facebook page, btw. They don't seem to do Twitter or Instagram.

Really good news, thanks! Though that's a pity they changed the name. I would have never known if I didn't read it here. Hope all the fans will find them after re-opening

Thanks for the update, Rich! I might have to go on Thursday. :)

I've updated the subject on the original thread to let people know the good news.
