Mirin, hai!

We made our first stop at Mirin tonight, but it certainly won't be the last. Excellent ramen, and I can't wait to go back and try more goodies.

We went last night based on your suggestion Robin, and found the food excellent!
Small place with counter ordering- but the food is way worth it. We asked Griffin ( owner) to offer his suggestions, and ordered the Tskune ( sp?) and Egg, and two noodle bowls to share. The first is like a Japanese version of a scotch egg- a shoyu egg wrapped in chicken sausage and baked, then finished with hoisin sauce and wasabi. Loved the play of flavors and textures. Our two bowls were the roasted duck ramen, and the special ramen (which was a spicy, double broth ramen. ) Both were excellent, with incredibly deep broth flavors and a great " bite" to the noodles- my markers for great ramen. The noodles are thinner than usual- more like a vermicelli- but great noodles just the same. Griffin told us he has them made to his specifications from a producer in Lex. The special ramen had a great heat from a topping of Thai Chile paste, and a very generous amount of pork belly. Just the thing for a cold winter night ( or a cold, or anytime else for that matter....).

Bowls are reasonably priced for the quality, and we happily took home leftovers for lunch. Their liquor license ( wine and beer) should be approved any day, and Griffin shared that they will also offer an extensive selection of Sakes.
So happy to have a great ramen choice again in Louisville! We will be back soon! :D
