Where To Buy Fresh Yucca Root

The BF and I have a new obsession with yucca (or yuca as I see it spelled two different ways) fries and want to try making our own and maybe some other yucca receipes.

Is there a store in Louisville that carries this?

Terri, I'd start with the Valu Market in Iroquois Manor, just down from Vietnam Kitchen. Might call to make sure, but they have an extremely large and diverse selection of produce from all over the world.

Also try the little grocery/butcher shop on Westport that sits next to El Mariachi. They have all kinds of imported produce as well other really nifty stuff. And when I was there last time I noticed how clean the place was and how fresh the produce was. It's turnover must be pretty good.

I buy it at Meijer on South Hurstbourne.

Saw it at Whole Foods today.

Meijers on Preston almost always has it

Officially it's "yuca" or cassava root in Cuban cooking; "yucca" or big cactus in Arizona. They get mixed up a lot, though.
