Hillbilly Tea Names New Chef
Hillbilly Tea is excited to announce Lawrence Weeks as its new Head Chef. Weeks joins a distinguished list of alumni chefs to head the ever-evolving Appalachian kitchen. He departs from Jack Fry's to join Hillbilly Tea, but is best know for his venture “Locals Only” which has made waves in the Louisville food scene featuring creative pop up events with some of Louisville’s best culinary talents. Former Hillbilly Tea Sous Chef Keith Jones (Le Relais) returns to round out the culinary team under the guidance of Executive Chef Karter Louis.
A six course inaugural event “A Day in Appalachia” is planned for October 26 to, “show off our new team” proclaims Louis. “I’ve been watching Keith grow over the past few years and I am a huge admirer of Lawrence… but these two together is most definitely a dream team.”
Hillbilly Tea reopened in June at a new location 106 W Main Street and is open Tuesday thru Saturday. An all-new lunch menu (mostly under $10) is served weekdays 11am to 3pm. Dinner is served Tuesday – Saturday from 5pm to 10pm. And the infamous Hillbilly Tea Brunch is served Saturday & Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
