Amici gets mixed review in CJ

by Robin Garr » Sat Jan 12, 2008 9:48 am

Marty gives a decidedly mixed review (and a 2 1/2 star rating) to Amici in Old Louisville today, praising portion sizes and the quality of the main dishes he chose, but reserving a paragraph of (for Marty), particularly savage criicism for a side dish or two. ("bread baskets contained cold, weary crusts. A house-made limoncello torta ($6.50) was a tired, tough-textured, spongy thing with hardly enough lemon flavor to justify the name.")

Roger and the rest of the brew crew will be delighted to learn that he devotes as much attention to the restaurant's beer selection as to its wine list, writing that it is, "a place where the draft beer list includes Bell's, Moretti, and Guinness ($4.75), where the bottle list includes Young's Double Chocolate Stout, and where the wine list includes plenty of serviceable and interesting options in the low- to mid-$20 range ..." He chose wine, though. ;)
