Do they think that's how Firenze is spelled? Or are they looking for a trademarkable alternative? I think Pontiac beat them to that in about the '70s.

Well, yeah, to some extent. But you almost have to admit , every time some lawyer, corporate analyst, or some other non-restaurant pro decides he's going to open up his very own restaurant (often because they envision themselves sitting at their own bar holding court and besides...how hard can it be?) they open up a pizza place.

Granted, I don't know these people at all and this analogy may be very unfair. But this senario has played out so many times I just can't get excited about more Sysco built pizza. I really hope I am proven wrong in this case. And if so I will gladly stand up and admit my mistake. I will eat crow along with my pizza.

Chain be damned, Lenny's Philly is a guilty pleasure, maybe even my favorite in town.

I'll accept that, Adrian. I was talking about the "Firenza" Pizza part.

I'll take some corporate pizza over some of the independent local pizza I've had, any day.

What locals do you put in that category against what corporate pizza? I certainly haven't seen any comparisons that I would favor the corporate one in.

According to the website, "PIZZA LIKE NEVER BEFORE" Exciting! j/k. Interesting to note that this "chain" only opened their first store 16 months ago. Fast track.

I mostly prefer local (Boom, Post, Luigi's, Danny's), but as to Jeff's comment, some chains that are at least on the smaller scale (non-Papa's) can dish it out well. For example, I'd take Mellow Mushroom over Spinelli's, North End, and Pizza Donisi. Like Boombozz, the quality is good and they are fairly consistent with their product.

Okay, I guess you've got a point with Mellow, Silvio. It's worth noting, too, that the corporation's franchise model gives local operators a great deal of freedom in the way they run their units.

To be honest, Jets pizza is more of an option for me than Papa or Hut. ;)

I have pizza about twice per year, but I can't imagine it would ever be "Papa or Hut!"

This is what I'm talking about. What does that even mean? Will it have a crust? Will it have sauce? Will it be topped with things and baked in a oven? Because if you answer "yes" to those three things, then it is pizza exactly like before. If you answer "no" to those things, then you have something other than pizza. What are they going to do? Pizza sous vide? Pizza sushi (where even the crust is raw)?

The hyperbole is killing me. Can't you just say, "we think our pizza is the absolute best because we believe in our incredible dough, or we have a family sauce recipe that we think you are going to love."
