Location Change for Slow Food Taco Challenge Due to Weather
Taco Competition moved away from ReSurfaced to Tim Faulkner Gallery

Louisville, KY (May 31, 2015) – The Inaugural Slow Food Taco Challenge will be now be held on Saturday, June 4th from 12:00pm-4:00pm at Tim Faulkner Gallery, located at 1512 Portland Avenue in the Portland neighborhood. The event was originally scheduled to be located at the new ReSurfaced: The Liberty Build, but a high probability of thunderstorms prompted the search for a new location.

This sustainable culinary competition will award cash prizes in five categories for Best Taco, Best Vegetarian Taco, Most Creative, Best Dip, and Best Dessert. All items will feature local ingredients. Admission to the event is free, and tastes will be sold for $3. All proceeds will benefit Slow Food Bluegrass’ School Garden Grant Program.

Local artist Tristen Brooke, who was originally scheduled to perform at ReSurfaced, will move her performance to the Tim Faulkner gallery, too.

Taco Challenge Event Chair, Sarah Stewart said, “We love partnering with ReSurfaced, and we hope to return in the fall for our Fried Chicken Throw Down, but at the end of the day we have to make safety a priority and protect our participating restaurants from a potential loss.”

Participating restaurants include Galaxie, Over The 9, The Kentucky Taco Company, The Mayan Cafe, The Missing Link The Ville Taqueria, and Wiltshire on Market

This event is sponsored by Heine Brothers' Coffee, Louisville Farm to Table, Reliable Contracting Group, Hemp Foods America, Creation Gardens, The Reynolds Grocery Company and The Wiltshire Pantry.

Slow Food Bluegrass is a local chapter of Slow Food International, an organization devoted to savoring and protecting the heritage and biodiversity of food, agriculture and the rich culture of the table.
