And one from the CJ...

I think these places, like the Hard Rock, attract the tourists that tend not to try local fare anyway, so it doesn't bother me.

I wish he could bring a ton of good cooks with him! So many restaurants in this town and not enough help. I am gonna assume several of them wont last the long haul. I believe the culinary trend is on the decline Look at sullivans enrollment. At least so i hear.

I just ran across this post on Teh Facebook. Sounds legit.

New Yorkers loves to hate on tourists and tourist-oriented places, but we need and want all the tourists we can get. Bottom line is that if we want conventions to come to town (and we do), we need places like 4SL and it needs places like Fieri's restaurant. Not my cup of tea perhaps, but it is encouraging that his team did due diligence on our city and determined that it could sustain his business.

To bridge two different topics: Could it be any worse than our own local Doc's Cantina?

I prefer to outsource my Guy hatin'. Actually, I don't really hate him. He's just another TV personality/restaurant dude who isn't really a chef or anything. It's cool.
