Same corporate structure, but Boombozz is out, Joella's in.
JOELLA’S HOT CHICKEN IS COMING TO MIDDLETOWN
Second Area Restaurant to Open June 1st – Location will be the Fourth in Kentucky
Joella’s Hot Chicken will open a second Louisville area restaurant June 1st at 13401 Shelbyville Rd. Suite 101. The space was previously occupied by BoomBozz Craft Pizza and Taphouse, which closed its doors on May 1st to allow for conversion renovations. BoomBozz is another restaurant concept of Tony Palombino, founder/CEO of Louisville-based EAP Restaurant Concepts. Palombino also operates Manny & Merle’s in downtown Louisville.
“Our very first restaurant on Frankfort Avenue has been so incredibly popular, our team is thrilled about bringing a second hot chicken restaurant to the Louisville market,” said Palombino. “Upon searching for a second Joella's in Louisville, it was apparent that we needed a larger location to better facilitate the high volume of catering orders we receive. The Middletown area was next on our growth plans, and as we were searching for the perfect location, we realized it was right under our nose.”
“It was a very difficult decision to replace the BoomBozz with the Joella's concept, we are very thankful for our guests’ loyalty at BoomBozz Middletown,” Palombino said. “We look forward to seeing everyone at our five other Louisville BoomBozz locations.” Employees of the Middletown BoomBozz have been offered positions or transfers to other locations in the system.
Joella’s Hot Chicken, the newest restaurant addition to Palombino’s portfolio, places its own spin on Nashville’s classic hot chicken, taking traditional Southern fried chicken and giving it “spirit” by adding various spice blends. Using 100 percent, all-natural chicken, Joella’s Hot Chicken varieties are offered in six spice levels: Traditional Southern, Spiked Honey, Ella’s Fav, Tweener, Hot and “Fire in da Hole,” while also offering customers freshly made-from-scratch sides such as creamy mac & cheese, sweet-vinegar slaw, garlic fries, kale crunch salad and a southern favorite, black-eyed pea salad.
Guests will also have access to other craft staples, as all Joella’s restaurants will include fountain Boylan soda machines and an assortment of craft beer, including 10 local craft beers on tap in Middletown. Some additional enhancements and conveniences of the new location will include a separate entrance for online/phone orders, new menu items and a dedicated catering specialist.
Joella’s hot chicken craze and rapid expansion were recently featured nationally by Zagat’s restaurant guide. Joella’s opened its wildly popular inaugural location in Louisville just this past September, and lines have been forming out the door ever since. Since then, two more new and wildly successful locations have already opened in Lexington and the Cincinnati area, and additional restaurants are already planned for Indianapolis, St. Louis, Dayton, Columbus and Washington, DC.
