After Yum Event suggestions for Sat?

by Kim H » Thu Apr 28, 2016 2:47 pm

Hi! We're going to Toruk for Saturday's 4pm show, and we're considering a dinner afterwards. We have not been downtown for dinner in some time, and I was going for some suggestions from the "experts." We're not looking for anything extravagant - just a casual, fun experience. I have some thoughts, but wanted your all's input first. TIA! (Oh, I ruled out Ruby's, BBC, Bearno's, and O'Shea's)

I'm going to say MilkWood because it's my favorite along that strip, but certainly Manny & Merle's is fun, more casual and less pricey, although MilkWood isn't THAT high-end.

Maybe Doc Crow's also?

Or head east into NuLu where there are so many really good options! Harvest, Garage Bar, Wiltshire, Rye, Decca, Mayan Cafe, and I'm not naming them in any order, and I've probably missed a couple. Like Royals or Feast BBQ? Or maybe Galaxie ... for some reason I haven't got in there yet.

What do you all recommend at Milkwood? I've been wanting to try Decca, but we're going fairly casual for a 4pm show. Also, not sure about parking, so there's that....

I don't think Milkwood is necessarily any more or less casual than Decca, honestly. Casual attire for a show should be fine at either.

We went to Milkwood about three times and were never disappointed, so I'd say try anything that looks good to you. :)

Here's the menu on their website:

Correcting my previous post (autospell) - Milkwood's website. Heard awesome things about their food, but my phone has become my computer these days, and I can't make much use of their website.

Yikes! It was okay on my 28-inch iMac screen, but I just looked at it on my iPhone 6+, and ACK! It looks like they meant it to be "responsive design" for small screens, but it's not good. If I were the developer, http://ViaStudio.com, I don't think I would have put my name and link on that thing.

I was thinking the same thing, Robin! Considered emailing them (VIA), but didn't. So what would you recommend there since I can't read that menu well? ;-)

Hi! This is Johanna with Via Studios. We appreciate the feedback. The information you are looking for is located further down the scroll. We have contacted the restaurant and we will update the site to show the menu text before the menu image. Again, thanks for your input!

Wings - especially if you like salty
Octopus Bacon
Fried Chicken
Brisket
Pork Shoulder
Ramen
Collards and Kimchi
Chicken and Waffles - if it's back on the menu
Togarashi Cheesecake

I've never had the ribs, but they always look awesome when I've seen them.
