Beer question

by Leah S » Wed Jan 09, 2008 3:31 pm

I almost hate to even ask this question, because I'm honestly not trying to get something started. I don't drink a lot of beer, but with all the beer discussion on the Board lately, I ordered one this past weekend. (See I'm trying.)

It was reportedly brewed by someone on Frankfort Avenue, and the printout on the receipt read FEAT. It was both bitter and sweet at the same time, and I think was actually an ale.

OK, now that I've demonstrated my complete lack of knowledge about beer, since this was I think an ale, has anyone had this? It is any good for its variety? Before I form a lasting opinion, I'd like to know if I drank anything decent or not . . .

I don't remember any breweries on Frankfort Ave. There are many beers that are both sweet and bitter. Was it on draft? Where were you drinking?

Definitely on draft. And by Frankfort Ave, I think I meant Bardstown Road. I was at the Bristol to take care of a green chili wonton craving. I'd just come off of back to back Bridal Shows at Churchill Downs and the Fair Grounds, so I was pretty tired and not totally paying attention. The server said it was similar to Bass.

Well, of course I know I ate at The Bristol as noted above. They were just featuring this locally brewed beer, "sort of like Bass Ale". After reading on the beer threads I just wondered if perhaps someone knew more than I remembered. Perhaps a Bristol employee posts here. Not a big deal.

BBC Queen’s Knickers Olde English Ale

I think the ale you had was the BBC Queen’s Knickers Olde English Ale. Feat is an abbreviation for featured. We have been Featuring BBC beers on draft for some time now and they are selling quite well. Thanks!

Thank you Scott. QKOE was my first guess except for the "sort of like Bass Ale" comment.

See Olde Ale here.
