News release ...

SET at Theatre Square will open in the old Cunningham’s location on Fourth Street this summer. The ownership group 5th and Breck has hired Lost Brothers, LLC as the management company to run the restaurant. Lost Brothers, LLC is owned by local businessman and entrepreneur Kirk Stallings. Stallings has also brought on Joey Wagner as a partner in the restaurant and to oversee all the marketing and events.

The menu will include southern flair and American favorites at an approachable price point. Local Chef Geoff Heyde will serve as Executive Chef at SET. Heyde, originally from New England, studied culinary arts at the Culinary Institute of American in Hyde Park, New York. He continued his career at restaurants and hotels including the Seelbach and Clements Catering at the Derby Café in Louisville. Heyde opened the Village Anchor in May 2010. Most recently, Heyde was head chef at Owl Creek Country Club. Ron Wolz of Bittners will be doing all interior design.

SET is located at 630 South Fourth Street and will be open for lunch and dinner. It will also offer two private dining rooms and meeting space. SET is currently hiring for all positions, for more information and how to apply visit http://www.setattheatresquare.com.

The all-caps make it seem like it's an acronym or something, but I think it's just a reference to a theater set. As in, the stage backdrop and decorations, etc.

More from the Insider Lou article:

Wagner explained the restaurant’s name in a news release: “The reason why we chose the name SET comes from the location of the restaurant and it’s proximity to Louisville’s Theatre district including the Palace Theater, Mercury Ballroom, and Brown Theater. The definition of the word ‘set’ can be applied to any live music or arts performance and that’s what inspired us for the concept and vibe that I think the city of Louisville is going to love.”

Yeah, that was part of the news release I cut out. I probably could have left it in, but I got so irritated by all the bragging and hype in the long, wordy original that I couldn't stop whacking.

Duly noted. But I think the all-cap thing is silly.

I liked the angry deity answer better.

I drove by there this evening. It really looked nice. I walked by last week during the day while they were still putting finishing touches. It looked good then and especially this evening. It adds a classy look to the block. The makeover is remarkable.

Editors hate that nearly as much as companies that insist on starting their name with a lower-case letter, or trying to incorporate the word "Company" into it.
