Too early for racing (normally you'd see jockeys there too) but if you go to Wagners you'll see all the grooms and stable hands from Churchill. As Robin said, tho, prepare for a setting unchanged from the 1940's.
Wild Eggs is a local chain, extremely (and deservedly) popular . . . 121 S. Floyd is closest (maybe 5-10 minutes?)
The Cafe is a great unique place for breakfast (or lunch) . . . 712 Brent . . . very Southern and Louisville-style dishes . . . not open on Sunday, tho (less than 10 minutes from U of L)
