DECCA ANNOUNCES BEATS & EATS VOL. VII SONGKRAN, THAI NEW YEAR

Part of the 2016 edition
“NEW YEAR’S CELEBRATIONS AROUND THE WORLD”
Chef Annie Pettry brings back her late-night pop-up series in The Cellar Lounge,
with a new theme showcasing the foods of New Year’s celebrations around the globe.

Throughout 2015 Chef Annie Pettry transformed The Cellar Lounge under Decca restaurant into “Beats & Eats”—a late-night culinary den for one-night-only dishes inspired by her take on global street food, paired with hip-hop tracks. Back by popular demand, Chef Annie and her team have dropped a new edition in 2016 with Beats & Eats: New Year’s Celebrations Around the World. Join us for the 7th Volume celebrating Songkran, Thai New Year on Thursday, April 7th. Food and entertainment starts at 11pm with Beats spun by DJ Ryan Rugger and tasty Eats from all across Thailand.

Beats & Eats will take place in The Cellar Lounge from 11 p.m. – 1 a.m. on select Thursdays throughout the year, with the timing approximate to the actual New Year’s celebration dates. Each pop-up will include a selection of dishes under $8, beverage specials, including $2 Jello Shots, and music from rotating DJ’s ranging from old soul, to rare groove, to rock. The 2016 lineup includes:

• Chinese New Year (was February 11)
• Songkran, Thai New Year (April 7)
• Matariki, New Zealand (Maori) New Year (June 9)
• Noche Vieja en August, Berchules, Spain New Year (August 4)
• Diwali, Hindu New Year (October 27)

“In the US we celebrate New Year’s on January 1 with Champagne and fireworks, but different cultures have their own dates, festivals, traditions, and foods to mark the start of their year,” says Chef Annie. “We’re using that as our initial source of inspiration, and from there, I’m challenging the Decca team to get creative!”

Entry to Beats & Eats is free, with all dishes from Chef Annie and drinks from The Cellar Lounge served a la carte. Seating is offered on a first-come first-serve basis.

Too bad that that the basement where they are holding this event isn't handicapped accessible!
