Food for a Friend

by Kim H » Sat Mar 12, 2016 2:21 am

I'm hoping for suggestions an east-end establishment who can offer a casserole or family-type meal for my friend and her caregivers. Thoughts? I would've cooked, but I've been a bit under the weather. My friend has cancer, just started treatment, and isn't eating much (mostly Ensure). So for the moment (tomorrow morning), my focus is on her caregivers. Thoughts please?

When I hear "family type" and "East End," Goose Creek Diner hits my mind right away. Or maybe something good from Shady Lane Cafe?

I would suggest the Middletown Cheddar Box Café.

Thank you, Nancy! Her house is much closer to the Middletown location (Cold Springs). Would you store still be able to deliver that far out?

I am so remiss on this follow-up post, but I wanted to give a shout out to Nancy Tarrant at The Cheddar Box in St. Matthews! I contacted her after she responded to my initial request here about helping feed my friends, and she delivered, in more ways than one! I ordered 3 entrees (2 portions each) of Hot Brown Casserole, Lasagne, and Pot Roast w/pots and carrots, and a family-size tossed salad as a side. She was incredibly courteous in dealing with a sick and distraught me, and delivered the food to my friends out in the east end within a couple of hours. They loooved her dishes, particularly the Hot Brown Casserole! The service and food were excellent, the value was incredible, my friends were well-fed for days, and I had peace of mind. Thank you, Nancy!! :-)

Nancy,
Do you have a menu that you could share? I will be home recovering from a surgery and would be interested in some food for myself. I sent you a pm quite some time ago but never heard back. Thanks very much!

Lotsa Pasta has wonderful prepared foods in their freezer section as well. I know it's not the same as having a hot meal delivered, but we stocked my boss's freezer from Lotsa Pasta when she was recovering from surgery and they loved it - and it's not all Italian either.
