That's a fair question, Derrick. Honestly - and I realize that this is beyond cynical of me - I'm not sure I believe it. If this plays out - and is done with transparency and outside inspection - then bless his heart. It's hard for me to see how they square this with corporate goals, though, unless they are absolutely convinced that consumers care enough about these things to pay extra for them.

Now Robin, you can't knock him just because he is a Republican, there are quite a few of us out here!

He's a major supporter of the Koch Brothers and their "dark money," Mark. That goes a bit beyond being "a Republican."

"Dark Money" and actually "Money" in general it is the way of politics these days. No matter who the candidate is or what the office is money is one of the most important factors in getting elected. It's sad for the American public but unfortunately very true.

If I had to find a place to eat that agreed with my "politics" I wouldn't be able to leave my yard. :D

Come to think of it, that may be a good thing. 8)

Regardless of the man's political affiliations, if he doesn't give a darn about the health and well being of the people that work for him, (raising pizza pricing .25 is too too much to ask so that his employees have healthcare), why would I believe he gives a real rats patootie about anyone else's well being other than his own? I agree with Robin on this. Put me down as "skeptical ".

I am willing to give Papa John's the benefit of the doubt on this one because I am a consumer who likes to see simpler ingredients, and it appears they are making that effort. The more cynical side of me recognizes that trans fats are going to banned anyway so companies are merely trying to adjust to the new requirements.

I concur with everyone who says the sauce is too sweet. In fact, I think it'd be nice if they gave a second less sweet sauce option given the sort of language they've been using regarding their ingredients. I actually don't think their pizza is as bad as some say, but I'd only give it a 6 out of 10. That said, it's scale of 10 where something that rates 4 or 5 would be something I'd prefer not to eat. My favorite "local" pizza is probably Za's, but IMHO there is no shortage of good pizza in Louisville.
