No snark, no hate, just 3 CJ stars for Hay! Chee Wa Waa

by Robin Garr » Wed Jan 27, 2016 12:37 pm

The CJ offers up a non-controversial 3-star review for Hay! Chee Wa Waa this week. She didn't even crack wise about the name of the place.

I want to love it here since they are in my 'hood, but have found the food to be pretty uninteresting. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong thing and we need to give it one more try.

I've eaten there a time or two and pretty much concur. It's hearty Mexican food, but I don't know that it's a step above the Aztecas/Nopal/Tarasco/etc eateries. And the name is slightly cringe-worthy.

Becky, maybe it's just me, but it feels sort of like Jim Ramsey and his posse dressing up in giant sombreros and fake mustaches. A hokey, fake Mexican accent that's probably okay for Mexican guys to do for fun, but seems a little sketchy when they invite gringos to get in on the fun.

(btw....hey there... long time no see!!!)

Likewise! Don't be a stranger! 8)

Same here. In my office 'hood, and would love to love it, but just not so much.
