"Lost Restaurants of Louisville" lost a big one ...

Has anyone seen this new book? Apparently one of those cheap paperbacks hacked out in a hurry, it features a bunch of gone but not forgotten Louisville eateries.

It missed a big one, though ... I'm reliably informed that nary a word about Casa Grisanti graces its pages. Have any of you seen it? I'm not about to lay out 18 bucks for this thing, but I'd love to confirm this omission.

(It's probably not surprising that one of the editors of this book is said to be one of the Snide Kids at the failed Eater Louisville ... )

Looking at the TOC and index viewable on Amazon:

It does not appear there is a chapter dedicated to Casa Grisanti.

Per index: Pages 127, 128 (chapter on Ferd Grisanti's) and Pages 138, 139 (chapter on Sixth Avenue) mention Casa Grisanti.

Index also indicates Albert, Don, Ferd, Michael, Paul and Vince Grisanti are mentioned in the book.

.....recalling the excellent article several years ago in a local publication that described the legacy of Casa Grisanti and the local restaurants, restaurateurs, chefs, and food and beverage professionals that trace their roots to Casa.

Thanks for the deep data dive, Jay. Not quite as inexplicable as a total exclusion would have been, but it still suggests careless work.

The book oddly enough does NOT include Casa Grisanti, probably the most iconic place in Louisville especially in terms of its alumni.

Otherwise it is pretty good. Worth a read. As noted it cannot possibly include all departed restaurants, but I can't imagine why Casa was not included. It rates only a paragraph in the Ferd Grisanti restaurant. Another omission is Lentinis.

Book is available in the Library if you don't want to spend the money.

Hard to imagine how one could document Louisville's scene with the omission of Casa.
