Has anyone tried La Chasse?

I'd include the name in the title, but I can't think if it. It's the new-ish place in Bardstown Road where Palermo used to be, been open maybe two months. The French-inspired menu looks interesting, but I've not heard any word from those that have visited it yet.

La Chasse. I'll fix the header. It looks great, and the presence of the former chef from Le Coop looks promising. We were going to go recently, but a friend who was going along is a hard-core vegetarian, and there is nothing on the menu for vegans and vegetarians. This kind of surprised me for the Highlands demographic, frankly.

I've been twice. The first time was with a guest and a table and it was very good, although we were seated at the back table almost in a (brightly lit) hallway. They're working on that, I think. The second visit was solo at the bar on a busy night. I had what appeared to be one of the few vegetarian options described on menu as: "Grilled Mushroom and Fennel Tart with puff pastry, fresh chèvre, caramelized shallots, and merlot gastrique". I did not care for it. They might have forgotten about me (solo, as I said) and the dish was not hot/warm and too sweet for my tastes.

Chef/owner is from Le Relais, not Le Coop, I believe, so I bet he could make another worthy vegetarian/vegan option on the fly, if asked (?)

Oops! I'll take your word on that, Jay. I sure thought he was the Le Coop guy, though!

Bobby Benjamin at Butchertown Grocery was the Le Coop guy.

Thanks, Bob! As soon as you said that, I realized, "Yeah! Sure!"

We went about a month ago and it was all great, from cocktails to service. I had the steak frites, hub had the rabbit. Both were delicious.

Been twice. Very good both times. Pheasant, squab, rabbit, what could go wrong? Thoughtful wine list, fair prices, good service. I am looking forward to Robin giving it a full review.

Wife, daughter, and I did an all French weekend a few weeks ago with La Chasse on a Friday and Le Relais on Saturday and just to confirm went back to Le Relais last Friday.

We were also seated in the hallway at La Chasse, which we had been in before at Palermo, but I don't know if there are more tables or changed lighting but it just did not seem as inviting a space. Food was, as quoted from my wife, OK.

Our go to for French is still Le Relais. They have not lost a step in the kitchen and may have even ramped up their game based on a few old favorites we tried. The chicken and Steak au Poivre were actually better and they had a new killer side dish: White Bean and Bacon Bread Pudding.

May be set in our ways, but Le Relais just seems to have an old school elegance that we rate right up there with some of the better tables in town.
