New food editor at CJ

It looks like Gannett reached outside the CJ and outside the corporation to bring in a new food editor: Pableaux Johnson, who just came to Louisville from New Orleans, dropped me a nice note to let me know that he's taking over the post. Seems like a nice guy, and he's apparently new to Gannett.

Pableaux says he was a freelance writer in New Orleans, doing features, cookbook work and restaurant criticism.

It'll be interesting to see what he does with the paper's food and dining coverage under Gannett's administration and budget ... I look forward to getting to know him.

Robin,

I am not sure but I think Johnson is a bastardized English/Welsh/Irish/Scottish version of one of those Nordic dialects and languages. You know, like Johanson, Ericson, ad infinitum.... how come their is not a Guggenhiemdaughter... never mind... anyway... Johnson seems pretty 'merkin really. I mean, Andrew Johnson, Lyndon Johnson, just to name two off the top of my head.

Now if this here fella was a Beaux, or a Breaux, or even a Budreaux, then I could see saying maybe Acadian. Pableaux, sounds more like his momma liked the sound of those syllables. Sort of like a French/Cajun "Pablo" Picasso, well, OK, maybe not.

Anyway, it'll be nice to see what he does in the C-J.

And, Pableaux, if you are reading this, Welcome To Louisville. Please come join our Tuesday night once a month get out and dine group. We'll tip you off on all the best places to shop for food.
