Local restaurants heading for airport expansion.

by Mark R. » Wed Nov 18, 2015 3:42 pm

It was announced today that both Coals and Comfy Cow are going to have locations in the major upgrade of the airport facilities that are underway! I would certainly say that this was somewhat unexpected but that they will be both great additions to the airport.

Excellent (though I do prefer Boombozz)! We need more local food at the airport! (Yum! doesn't count, of course...)

Does the story address how Coals plans to make the coal oven work in the airport setting?

With Coal, I'm guessing.

That's sensible, but remember that APCD gave them a long, hard way to go with a relatively simple setup in a building of modest size in St. Matthews that was being gut-rehabbed anyway. I'm curious how they're going to make it work at the airport, both in terms of heat containment and pollution abatement.

No coal or gas. We will be working with Host for solutions. Varasano of Atlanta has one of their restaurants in the Atlanta airport. They use high powered gas ovens in their restaurants but must use electric for their oven at that location.

BTW the plans for the different restaurant concepts are beautiful! It was a joy to go through this process.

Now, if they can only replace Starbucks with Sunergos or some other good local coffee shop.
