Fernando's next restaurant to be in Norton Commons!

by Mark R. » Mon Nov 09, 2015 5:26 pm

The people on this website who guess that Fernando was going to open a restaurant in Norton Commons were certainly correct. The announcement about it just came out in business 1st, here it is: OLE restaurant group plans for Mercato Italiano.

Also the speculation that it would be the remake of Cena was also correct!

Good news, but I'm a little disappointed in the way that Fernando responded to this discussion on the forum earlier. I hope he'll drop by to give us the inside scoop!

Don't hold your breath...seems like you, and your blog, might be in Fernando's doghouse. That's what you get for feeding into rumors and questioning his ability as a chef.

DD

Robin it's really sad that you feed in to this rumors and in the process question my abilities as a chef. Closing Cena has nothing to do with Allan leaving, the food at Cena has never been better or more consistent under James Cena's chef. We just got a 4 star review. Like a said before it's really sad that you agreed with this guy to get attention to your blog and now I have to come here and explain myself and my abilities as a chef, this is exactly the reason why so many people that I know in the industry do not participate here anymore.

After all the dozens of dozens on dozens of positive, down right GLOWING posts about all of Fernando's restaurants on this forum (or blog or what ever it is) if he chooses to abandon this site because of one faulty post then I think he will wind up looking pretty sulky and petty. Surely he would not do that. I would hope he has thicker skin. After all, we don't want anyone to resort to the "...if you can't stand the heat..."analogy. That would be just too easy.

Fernando is a good guy. I don't think he's going to go all postal on us. I would certainly be happy to sit down (in person or over Email) with him and have a frank discussion, if that's what he wants. Or maybe he'll just wake up on the right side of the bed and all will be well. :)

I don't know if there's a problem between Fernando and you or not but I was happy to see your reply until I read the last sentence! If there wasn't a problem before, that sentence quite possibly would create one!

It wouldn't bother me in reverse, Mark. Sometimes I get up cranky, but I don't usually stay that way.

Q: What's the difference between Fernando Martinez and Maria Bell?

A: Fernando will keep his old locations open when he starts a new restaurant next month.

I passed by the "offending sentence" at the time. I had to go back and look and it turns out..... <shrug>.

I reminds me of when Tipper Gore used to rail against "offensive music" and, and a result, bring a great deal of attention to something that otherwise would have gone largely unnoticed.
