Where to buy pretzel bread post farmers' markets?

by Ellen P » Mon Sep 28, 2015 10:34 am

We've been buying pretzel bread at the Beargrass Christian Church farmer's market. Where can we buy that bread when that ends? Haven't been in a few weeks and I keep forgetting to ask them when I'm there.

Thanks, Ellen

Ellen, the correct answer is, "I don't know."

But here's a discussion from a while back that may offer you some options.

Also, I'll probably go to Beargrass Market again for the next couple of Saturdays before the season ends Oct. 10 (sob), and I'll be happy to inquire and post my findings here.

Garden Gate (corner of Breckenridge/Bardstown) bakes Klaus all day long.

That place is awesome, btw. Full service Boar's Head deli, hot sandwiches, sides...the works. It's every bit as good/deep as Paul's, probably even more options to be honest. It's my favorite lunch spot in town.

Thanks everyone. The farmer's market is a drive for us and with football season, we haven't been as much. Can't go the last Saturdays either. :-(
Good to know about the place 'out' Bardstown Road. We've stopped in a few times over the years.
I did search before I asked but most responses were about 'Nuts n Stuff' where we use to go but has now closed.

Seems like Garden Gate did a pretty significant upgrade to their deli offerings not long ago. We frequently make a meal out of a loaf of pretzel bread and some buffalo chicken salad. I wish they stayed open later, though.

Costco sells pretzel rolls. I had a sample once and it was good.

You can get pretzel bread/rolls at just about every grocery store now. Kroger has them, lucky's, whole foods, fresh market.. the pretzelzilla brand is pretty decent.

Yeah, they did...they have endless options for lunch. Seriously have about 30 homemade sauces for sandwiches...combinations are endless -- Saturday is a great time to go, tons of samples out, fun atmosphere.

Yes, Costco etc have pretzel breads/rolls but they're not as good as Klaus made. Croissants are addictive.
