I called to see if they were open for lunch today.

Answering machine said "closed for a few days" due to a death in the family.

Might want to call before going to make sure they are open.

Thanks for the tip. They are always closed on Wednesdays, but I was planning on trying to go tomorrow night. I guess I'll have to wait to get my fix.

Tried to eat there New Year's Eve with my 8-year-old son (a huge VK fan, BTW). There was a sign on the door saying that the owner's father had recently died, and to please have patience for a few days until the restaurant reopened. We ended up with a terrific fallback, however: Impellizzeri's on Bardstown Rd. Viva Benny!

Thanks for saving me a trip over there today. I didn't realize they were closed on Wednesdays or that there had been a death. I have been craving this place and was all set to head there for lunch until I spotted this thread.

Can someone close by alert us when they reopen?

oh, that's so sad about the death in the family.

I'll have to call to check before I head out that way next time. love that restaurant.
