Raw oysters catching up with pizza joints

by James Natsis » Fri Aug 28, 2015 8:03 am

InsiderLouisville reported this morning that Bourbon Raw will replace Makers Mark in 4th St Live. Raw refers to raw oysters. This comes on the heels of the Varanese oyster project announcement. Watch out pizza investors and the city of New Orleans!

This reminds me of a topic on here just a couple of months ago saying the Louisville needed a good raw bar. By my count that will make at least eight locations serving oysters: our 2 Z's locations, Jeff Ruby's, Morton's, Doc Crows, and the "coming soons" of River House, Fontelroy's and now Bourbon Raw. (Please add to this list if you know of someplace else I forgot) I guess I just didn't realize how popular the little buggers are. If this keeps up we might be facing a baby boom in Louisville in the near future.

No "raw bar", but Rumors whole idea is serving great wings and oysters (raw and/or roasted). They are wonderful, fresh, and about half the price of the others on your list!

Also, Hiko-a-mon and several other Asian restaurants have oysters on the menu (Hiko has fried fresh oysters in their Bento box and a fried (but virtually raw) sushi roll ("kaki maki") that's to die for.

Hooters does oysters, shrimp, and snow crab.

Unfortunate news about the prevalence of norovirus in oysters...

:-(

People who are immuno-compromised or otherwise unusually vulnerable to infection should be advised against consuming
uncooked oysters.
