Grind Burger to NULU

by James Natsis » Fri Aug 14, 2015 2:01 pm

Grind Burger is coming to NuLu at the former Earth Friends Cafe. This is quite an evolution from the trcuk, to Preston, to now a larger, more high profile location.

I also heard a rumor that Taco Luchador is coming to NuLu. Does anyone know anything about that?

I thought that was posted earlier from Grind's Facebook page, but I'm not seeing it now. Anyway, woohoo! Those guys make all manner of serious burgers.

Anyway, they posted this on Aug. 8:

Grind Burger Kitchen wrote:We are thrilled to announce that we will bring Grind Burger Kitchen to Nulu by the end of the year. We have signed a lease at 829 E Market St. at the former location of The Bodega and more recently Earth Friends Café. We are looking forward to adding more seating, more parking, a full bar and a kitchen we’re building to our specifications. Unfortunately this also means that we will be leaving our little, yellow, peeled-paint, bullet-holed building on Preston. Our lease ends in February and the landlord intends to sell the building as opposed to putting it back up for lease. This suits us just fine. As you all know we have had issues with parking there for the past few months and while our neighbors have been more than gracious, it has become difficult for them to conduct regular business with all you crazy, burger fans taking up all the spaces. Our dining room is often full leaving only the option to wait for a table or go elsewhere and as I’m sure you all can imagine it’s terrible for us to have to turn away business because we’ve run out of space and seats. We have enjoyed our time there and are disappointed to have to leave the neighborhood but after looking for nearly 6 months (including the Audubon/Germantown area) for a new location we ultimately landed on a wonderful spot not too far down the road. We look forward to you all following along with the progress on our social media sites and to seeing your shining, smiling faces in a few months down in Nulu.

They also clarified today that they will remain open on Preston during the move. "Just a reminder to everyone that we will be at the Preston location until the end of the year before we move to NuLu. :) "

It was nice having that place so nearby, but parking was a legitimate problem. Backing out onto Preston can be risky, too, given how fast people drive at that spot. Glad to hear they're doing well.

Looking forward to the new location, while the Preston spot is definitely closer to home, we thought that there might be issues with hubby's wheelchair (still waiting on his leg prosthesis).

Hi Bev,

Our building is completely wheelchair accessible. The men's room is a little bit of a tight fit but he would be more than welcome to use the women's which is larger.

And thank you for the kind words, Robin. We're looking forward to moving into a larger space and bringing a fun burger place to NuLu. :)

Thanks for the info Liz . We will have to try and stop by some time soon.

Yay for more affordable food in Nulu! When Taco Punk closed, it left a big hole in the ~$10-meal sector. Now that Feast has moved in and Grind and Ryan's new chicken place are coming, things are looking much better.
