Oak Street Pizza

by Leah S » Sun Dec 30, 2007 11:13 am

This is a tiny place roughly at First and Oak or so. It's new and carry out only. Appears to be run by a couple of guys with a personal passion for pizza. House made and hand tossed dough and tasty pies. Last night hubby ordered a pizza with red sauce, (you can also choose white) spinach, mushrooms, green peppers, pineapple and feta. He sometimes gets creative . . .

Anyway it was very yummy and has already replaced our usual pizza place.

Large pie, bigger than we could eat in one sitting was $17. We'll definitely be back.

Awesome. My in-laws who live on S. Brook were telling us about a new pizza place down there but they hadn't tried it yet, and we've not had the chance yet either. But we will!

Found an ad for them in yesterday's copy of Scene. They are located at 125 East Oak Street. Their phone number is listed as 585-1788.
And their hours are:
Mon. - Thurs.: 11am - 9pm
Fri. - Sat.: Noon - Midnight

The ad says to try their "Vesuvius Pizza - Steak, Fresh Garlic, Red Peppers, Caramelized Onions, Topped with Mozzarella and Provolone Cheese".

I went by there yesterday and ordered a large with spinach, sundried tomatoes, and garlic. It was like 13 bucks which is a pretty good price. The only thing that bothered me was that the spinach was not fresh so the next time I go there I will be sure to tell the owner he might want to think of fresh spinach. I liked it though and am very happy that there is a decent place that is right around the corner from me. They have a style that I guess you would call New York style of sorts. The sizes were small, large, and sicilian. Calzones and salads good toppings. Good stuff.
Im not a food"ie", I am a food"er".

Wow . . . the world's fastest hole-in-the-wall to chain story!

I don't mean that as a criticism . . . just amazing. Where is the 7th street flea market (and don't tell me it's near the old Sears building.)

Thanks. DD

Well, no its pretty far from the old Sears building.
It's on 7th obviously, not terribly far from the Dismas Charities headquarters, around the ginormous white "coke" bottle, north of Berry and not too far from a lot of strip clubs.

That probably didn't help, did it?

We go down 7th street from our place in Old Louisville going to the Shively Animal Clinic so we pass it quite a lot.

Yeah, those were really messy directions. I'll see if I can find an address.

Just tap your heels together three times and say "There's no place like Cafe Lou Lou.....there's no place like Cafe Lou Lou...."

Just kidding. Casey, I'll make it a point to try one of your pies soon, during one of my precious "free days" in my diet cycle. No bread, rice or potatoes for 11 days makes Marsha a cranky girl.
