Russian/Ukrainian restaurant in Louisville?

by SheilaKalajdžić » Mon Jul 06, 2015 10:03 pm

Hi everyone, I thought I remembered seeing something about a Russian or Ukrainian restaurant opening in Louisville last year. I *think* it was supposed to be opening somewhere on the Jewish Community Center grounds, and I wanted to try the food. I've been searching online and here on Hotbytes, but I can't find anything about it. Do any of y'all happen to remember the name of the restaurant or know anything about it? Thanks! :)

Sheila, I hoped someone here would know, but hold on ... I'll ask a friend who works at the JCC.

This from my friend Lisa. Sorry I don't have any more. :(

Definitely not happening at the JCC. There are a lot of Russians and Ukrainians there, but no restaurants that I know of.

I'm not aware of any. The closest we had was Gavi's, IMO.

Yes, I thought about that. Right around the corner from the Bosnian strip, up a ways from the Chinese grocery, and just across the road from the Jordanian eatery. That's actually a pretty cool food neighborhood!

I don't think that's the one Sheila is looking for, though ... there's no restaurant or food prep, as far as I know.

Thanks so much for checking into it for me, Robin. I really appreciate it. I'm starting to wonder if I just dreamed about this restaurant opening??? :?: :? :|

Thanks Adam. Gavi's closed a few years ago if I recall correctly. :(

Yep...a cool food neighborhood for sure but you're right, Robin...it's not what I was looking for.

Well, I'm really disappointed. My husband and I are finally off next Sunday for our anniversary and it's looking like I must have dreamed up this restaurant. I'm gonna check with a local Ukrainian chef that I've known for many years and see if he knows anything about it. If I find out anything, I'll keep y'all posted. Thanks for the help. :)

Well, I found out that I didn't dream it all up. A Russian restaurant did open briefly in Louisville...I think in the past year...but it's already closed. :( It was off Dupont.

Sadly, it never even blipped on the radar in this forum or, as far as I know, any other media.
