Top Round Roast Beef coming to Louisville

by James Natsis » Tue Jun 30, 2015 5:40 pm

"Chef Driven Fast Food".......................what the heck is this? is this kindda like a movie that is "inspired" by a true story? I'm surprised they didn't throw in "artisan." Or maybe "just like grandma used to make"

In any case, it will probably be good for people who enjoy that type of grub. But I'm tired of the abuse of certain terms.

The "Beef on Weck" on the menu looked pretty good, although seeing a northern New York dish on the menu at a fast food place from L.A. was odd.

It reminded me of a recent trip to Burger King, though, and realizing that the price of combo meals was approaching $9.

I agree that's kind of unusual but I'm looking forward to trying their rendition of Beef on Weck. It's going to be hard to beat some of the ones I had while growing up in Rochester but it's certainly worth a shot.

I wonder how many people actually know that the reason that Buffalo Wild Wings is called BW3 is because it used to be named Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck! Saying that I haven't seen a Beef on Weck sandwich on the menu in a long time.

Ha! You made me google myself, Mark, as I thought I remembered having talked about this. Whoa, 11 years ago! Here's what I wrote in February 2004:

There's a Buffalo-based chain with local shops here (BW-3 Buffalo Wild Wings, formerly named Buffalo Wings & Weck but renamed when they figured that nobody outside Buffalo knows what "weck" is).

I can't really comment about the "on weck," as I've no experience with that sort of thing.

I think my arteries got a little narrower just reading the menu. The fries are cooked in 100% beef fat???!!! Granted, they probably taste damn good. It's been many years since I've tasted a beef-fat fried french fry.

The chicken marinated in buttermilk and pickle juice sounds intriguing. I like chicken sandwiches with pickle, so it would be interesting to see the pickle taste embedded in the sandwich.

Curiosity will get me in the door at this place at least.

Also noticed Provel on the menu

Beef on Weck + Provel. :D

...will certainly be giving this fast food joint a few tries.

Never happy news because of lost jobs, but I have to admit that I never found a reason to go over there. :(

Tried it a couple of times, was not impressed! Too pricey for what you got!

It wasn't bad the couple of times we tried it but my favorite part was the real horseradish they had for the sandwiches not the mayo stuff at Arby's.

I certainly agree, their horseradish with some of the best I ever had. It was a nice texture and extremely hot! Other than that I wasn't impressed by the menu especially when you consider the prices. Also, there parking lot was terrible and the drive-through was useless.

We ate there once. I thought it was very tasty, but neither oustanding enough nor cheap enough to make us regulars. The much-vaunted fries were fine, but nothing amazing.
