Boil water advisory: Any impact on restaurants?

by Robin Garr » Thu Jun 18, 2015 9:48 am

I'm thinking Frankfort Avenue in particular. Closings? Special kitchen arrangements? Five-second rule? What's up out there?

It's for way more than just Crescent Hill, despite the headlines. Almost everything inside the Watterson east of Poplar Level, and a slice of outside-the-Watterson in the Hikes Point area, too.

Here's the map: http://www.louisvillewater.com/sites/lo ... _18_15.pdf

Here's a small copy that'll post here, for quick reference:

We just found out about this five minutes before opening our doors. Immediately burned all of the ice in the bins and sanitized. Boiled water for the kitchen. Bought ice and extra cases of San Pelligrino and bottled water. Talked to Metro and they said it was an advisory and that it was our decision to remain open. Apparently the boil advisory is in effect until tomorrow. Encouraging our customers to drink beer!

We just left the Irish Rover--they are open and serving! Of course, beer was plentiful and they were bringing in bottled water, soft drinks, etc. Yummy as always!

On a side note, there are advantages to living outside the Watterson, Robin

Showed up at Coal's at 5:00 and they are closed due to water main break. I don't get it.

They were actually featured in an article that Business First published about the situation: http://www.bizjournals.com/louisville/n ... 1434669006 I'm sure everyone doesn't agree but they felt it was in the best interest of the restaurant and customers.

That is fine, but Madaline made it sound like there were going to be open. When she made the beer comment I had no choice but to go.

Sorry Justin. I manage to change our Facebook page, and our telephone greeting, but I forgot about this forum. It was difficult for the kitchen and FOH to wash their hands. We thought about placing plastic bottles of water in the Men and Women bathrooms, and a few in the bar and kitchen, but decided to not go there.
