I know we've talked about Nashville chicken come to Louisville before, we had the thread: http://forums.louisvillehotbytes.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22815&p=170323&hilit=Nashville+chicken#p170323 and I also believe we talked about Tony of pizza fame opening a place I believe on Frankford Avenue. Have any of these other renditions open yet?

Looking forward to trying this, thanks for posting.

BTW, looks like that other Barrel House one fell through.

Excited to see some hot chicken places slated to open! I've not had the opportunity to visit Prince's or any of the likes in Nashville.

What is the difference between this style of chicken and, say, Indi's? I love Indi's chicken (esp the wings) and wedges but that level of grease bomb is only suitable to rare occasions.

PS - anyone remember a little hole in the wall "Golden Rays"? Literally across from Hazelwood Elementary in the south end? This place had insane spicy chicken...ice storm struck and it never reopened. Always wondered.

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but Manny and Merles has hot chicken on the menu.

It's not like Indis at all; there's a spice paste. You can read about it here:

Thanks for the link. Makes sense. Looking forward to trying this...over the past few years my hankering for heat has become insatiable. I find myself being continually disappointed by items on menus named "nuclear" or that have habanero/fill in the blank hot pepper in it. They just never seem to actually be very spicy. I saw an episode of "mind of a chef" where Shaun Brock went to Princes in Nashville and got the hottest available. Evidently it is ridiculously hot...been looking for an excuse to go since.

Now that I'm thinking about it...driving back from Atlanta tomorrow morning. May have to make a lunch stop :D

I've lived in Louisville off and on for a good part of my life and never heard of Nashville hot chicken until I saw it on the Food Network a few months ago. I'm surprised it's not already here.
