Gourmet Picnic food?

by Deb Hall » Wed May 06, 2015 2:08 pm

We are planning a romantic picnic for our anniversary and need some great food for a picnic for two. Usually when we do this, we have fun preparing and sourcing our own, but we have no time to prepare anything this time ( our house goes on the market next week- yikes!) Who has truly great gourmet-to-go and/or sandwiches in town? We usually don't buy this, so other than Lotsa and La Peche I'm drawing a blank. We've never been to La Peche- how is it?

Thanks,
Deb

Deb, any Paul's Fruit Market and Frank's Meats on Preston both come to mind. This might not sound very romantic, but a Braunschweiger with onions on rye from Frank's is the best. Also consider Steven's and Steven's in the Highlands at Ditto's. You could get some chocolate covered cherries and blueberries for dessert there.

I think La Peche, next to Lilly's, defines gourmet-to-go.

We hit them up once or twice a week on the way home for dinner and have never been disappointed, including last night.

Had their box lunches for Oaks and our entire party raved about the Marksbury smoked chicken and roast beef sandwiches and the roasted salmon with mango chutney. I'm sure they would be glad to put something together for you if they don't have something suitable in the case already.

Stevens & Stevens, La Peche, also don't overlook Lotsa Pasta for Italian deli and muffulettas to go!

I really like Wiltshire Pantry for premade sandwiches. I am always impressed with every element at that place.

Can't go wrong with either Lotsa or Stevens & Stevens.
