Local eatery closes after 60 years ... guess who?

by Robin Garr » Mon Mar 30, 2015 10:17 am

This one caught me by surprise. At first I snickered, but actually, I think Business First deserves kudos for marking the demise of a long-term family spot that I expect many of its clients will miss.

Can't guess? It was the Jerry's on Preston in Okolona.

Here's the story:

I was never in that one, but the one on Eastern Pkwy that's now a Denny's was where we used to go. For some reason I remember the Jerry boy character on the lighted sign carrying a striped box that I always thought was cool when I was kid. I guess it was supposed to be a to-go box, but I never saw one in reality.
