Red Hog to Perfect Location

I gave a heads-up about this coming opening a while back. I'm just glad that the chain-link fence and "No Trespassing" signs at the blighted corner of Frankfort Avenue and Franck will finally come down. I'd accept just about anything there, but this sounds great. The Blue Dog folks do things the right way.

If this is anything like the old Red Hog Tapas they used to do, I will be filing bankruptcy a mere few months after this opens. That food was just incredible.

Yeah, some of us in the neighborhood were starting to mutter quietly about vigilante action.

One thing neither article mentions is that work on the building is being done by architect Jeff Rawlins (Holy Grale, Louisville Beer Store, Market St. Barbers) - so you know it will be done right. Frankfort Ave is really taking off in a good way. I now wonder what's going in the old Bailey TV - apparently sold in a day. My mantra has become ABMOP: anything but Mexican or Pizza. I want more ethnic, like the South End!

...unless it's Chicago style Pizza. Still hoping and praying we'll eventually get a Lou Malnati's or Giordano's.

Well, don't get too excited just yet, folks. I haven't talked to the Blue Dog Hancocks, but I spent a little time today with "a person who is familiar with the situation," and word on the street is not to get too excited just yet. Blue Dog would love to do this, but they're responsible folks, and due diligence is looking iffy. I', told that issues include (1) Jonathan Blue, say no more, and (2) underground fuel tanks not removed and other issues that may make the site environmentally iffy and very expensive to clean up.

I would love to see them in that spot. But if the tanks are still there???? That is the property owners problem. And they should fix it. just like at the desirable corner of Frankfort and mellwood.

Just drove by there and they are digging out those tanks... maybe not a problem...?
